Demonstrator Panels

The next step in the development of the Adaptiwall concept is the upscaling from prototypes to real-size demonstrator panels, where the results of the performance testing are used to optimize and improve the Adaptiwall concept. Furthermore this upscaling concerns the integration of total heat exchanger (THEX) and window into 2 approximately 10 m2 panels. These panels will be fully instrumented and integrated into the PASSYS cells test facility of CEA at Bourget du Lac (France). Different scenarios (for example different user behavior) and control strategies will be tested. Main objective of this demonstration is to characterize the dynamic behavior of the façade and thereby to verify the energy saving objectives of Adaptiwall. This WP has started in March 2016 with manufacturing of the demonstration panels.

Two PASSYS test cells are dedicated to welcome the ADAPTIWALL panels for a one year long experimental campaign (Figure 1).

Today the detailed design phase is finished. All the three material work packages supplied the up-scaled components of the ADAPTIWALL panel making the start of facade manufacturing possible.

Figure2 shows the finalised design of the ADAPTIWALL panels while Figure 3 shows the first step of the assembly process dedicated to the PASSYS demonstration panels’ installation.
